Dealer self-edit links

Give each dealer a private link to keep their own listing current, so opening hours and phone numbers stop being your job. Business plan.

A stockist changes their opening hours and tells nobody. Six months later your map is quietly wrong in a hundred places. A self-edit link hands that job back to the dealer: one private address per location, which opens a form filled in with what you currently hold.

It is a Business plan feature.

Get a link

  1. Open the location under Locations.
  2. On that location, click Copy dealer edit link.
  3. Send it to that dealer. It belongs to that one location and no other.

Exporting your locations gives you all of them at once: the CSV carries a dealerEditUrl column, which is the quickest way to mail a hundred dealers their own link.

What a dealer can do with it

They open the link, see their listing as it stands, change what is out of date and submit. The change does not go live on its own: it arrives on your Submissions page as an edit request, shown field by field against the current value, and waits for you.

If reviewing every phone number is not a good use of your time, switch on Auto-accept edit submissions under Settings → Dealer form. Edits then apply immediately and land on the Auto-accepted tab so you can still see what changed. New dealer registrations are never auto-accepted.

If a link gets out

The link is the credential, so treat it like one. If a dealer leaves, or a link ends up somewhere public, click Regenerate dealer edit link on that location. The old address stops working immediately and you get a new one to send out.

What to do next

  • Deciding what dealers may change is "How to manage form fields in the dealer form": the self-edit form uses the same fields.

  • Reviewing what comes back is "Handling new dealer submissions".
