How do tags and groups work on the new look?

The Tags & groups tab of the new look: creating tags and categories, the tag filters customers see, how several picked tags combine, and groups for maps limited to a page.

This article is about the new look. Tags, tag categories, the tag filters customers use and your groups live in Settings → Tags & groups.

Step 1: Create tags and categories

Tags: create tags, set their order, and turn off any you are not using. Tag categories: create the categories, and set the order they appear in. Give a location its tags on the Locations page, one by one or in bulk; Bulk adding/removing tags to locations explains the bulk way.

Step 2: Show tag filters to customers

Tag filters has the switch Let customers filter by tag. With it on, your tags show as chips above the list, and in a panel when there are many. In the panel, tags are grouped by category, and tags in no category show under Other tags.

When a customer picks more than one tag, choose what happens:

  • Show locations with any of them: picking more tags widens the results.

  • Show locations with all of them: picking more tags narrows the results.

A location's own tags can also show in its details: add the tags field in Location content.

Step 3: Use groups for maps limited to a page

Groups name a subset of your locations. Their purpose is a map limited to specific locations on a specific page: in Publish → Add the map with code, pick the group under Limit the locations on this map, and paste that code on the page. Groups do not show as filters on the new look.

Tags on the dealer form

How many tags a dealer must pick, and how many per category, is set in Submissions → Form → Tags on the form.

What to do next

A map limited to a group, a city or a tag is built in Publish: How do I put the new look on my store?
