I switched to the new look. What do I need to change?

The banner on the Dashboard after the switch: what it checks, what each status means, and how to replace old map code on your page or in your theme with the new code.

This article is about the new look. After you switch, the Dashboard shows a banner until you close it with the X. It tells you whether your map needs anything from you.

What the banner checks

The app looks at your live theme and at your Store Locator page for every place your map is: the app block, the floating map button, map code on your Store Locator page and map code in your theme. The app block, the floating map button and map code the app has generated since August 2025 show the new look on their own, so the banner does not list them.

The banner lists only the map code that needs replacing, and says what each one shows today:

  • Still shows the classic look: the oldest map code, a script from sl.proguscommerce.com pasted straight into a page. Replace it to finish the switch.

  • Shows the new look, but may not fit your page: older map code shows the new look, but it cannot size the map to your page or use your theme's font. Replace it when you can.

The banner's title is the task. It says Replace the old map code to finish the switch, in orange, when any code still shows the classic look, and Replace the old map code so the map fits your page, in blue, otherwise.

When nothing needs replacing, the banner is green, says You switched to the new look, and offers Customize the design and View on your store, or Open your map when your map is not on your Store Locator page. When the app finds no map in your theme or on your Store Locator page, the banner says so. If you pasted map code somewhere else, replace it with the new code. If the check itself fails, reload the page to try again.

Step 1: Get the new code

In the banner, click Get the new code; the new code link in each step does the same. The code is copied to your clipboard with the map heights from Settings → Design.

If your old code limited the map to chosen tags, cities or groups, the button opens Settings → Publish instead. There, pick the same ones under Limit the locations on this map and copy the code from Add the map with code. The button also opens Publish when your browser blocks copying.

Step 2: Replace the code on your page

In Shopify, open Online Store → Pages, open your Store Locator page, click Show HTML, replace the old map code with the new code, and save. The page name in the banner opens the page in a new tab.

Step 3: Replace the code in your theme

In Shopify, open Online Store → Themes → Customize, open the page with the map, click each Custom Liquid section or block that holds the map, replace its code with the new code, and save. Each template name in the banner opens the theme editor on that template.

Step 4: Check the banner again

Reload the Dashboard. A page edit can take up to 5 minutes to show. When nothing is left to replace, the banner turns green and says You switched to the new look. Close it with the X; it does not come back unless you switch again.

Code pasted somewhere else

The app only checks your theme and your Store Locator page. Map code you pasted anywhere else, such as another page, a blog post or a page builder, keeps working but needs the same replacement. The code is always available in Settings → Publish → Add the map with code.

The same list on Publish

Settings → Publish shows the same title, list and steps at the top, until every place is done. It cannot be closed.

What to do next

Prefer the app block or the floating map button over pasted code? How do I put the new look on my store? covers both.

Want to go back? How do I go back to the classic look? explains the 30-day window.
